The Mets sat quietly behind for most of the night, then broke the game open in a hurry. Trailing after the Dodgers scored in the third and fourth, New York answered with three runs in the sixth and four more in the seventh, turning a tight game into an 8-3 win at Citi Field.

Tyrone Taylor supplied the swing that turned the tide, a three-run homer to left in the sixth that covered 405 feet and put the Mets ahead for good. He finished 1-for-3 with three RBI and a run scored. An inning later, Marcus Semien added to the outburst with a three-run shot of his own to left, going 1-for-1 with three RBI in the seventh. Between them, the two combined for six of New York's eight runs on a pair of swings.
The Mets' go-ahead run came in the sixth, when Taylor's homer scored Benge and Robert Jr. ahead of him, flipping a 3-1 Dodgers lead into a 4-3 Mets advantage. New York wasn't finished. In the seventh, Ewing scored on a passed ball by Rushing to make it 5-3, and two batters later Semien's three-run homer, which brought home Bichette and Polanco, pushed the margin to 8-3. Los Angeles had built its lead in the third and fourth: Freeman's double scored Alfonzo to tie it, Muncy's groundout brought home Pages to put the Dodgers ahead, and Alfonzo's groundout in the fourth scored Edman to make it 3-1.
Dodgers starter Emmet Sheehan kept the damage minimal in his outing, allowing 1 run (1 earned) over 5.0 innings with 5 strikeouts and 2 walks. But the bullpen behind him couldn't hold the line, with Los Angeles relievers combining for 3.0 innings and 7 runs across four pitchers. Evan Phillips took the loss after allowing 1 run in just 0.2 innings. Mets starter Freddy Peralta allowed 3 runs (2 earned) over 4.0 innings, but New York's bullpen shut the door, tossing 5.0 scoreless innings to close it out, with Cionel Perez earning the win after 2.0 innings of shutout relief with 3 strikeouts.
