Tawa was the story of the night. The Arizona outfielder went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI, driving in runs in the fourth, sixth, and eighth innings. His 429-foot blast in the fourth — which scored Nolan Arenado and gave Arizona a 4-2 lead it would never relinquish — was the go-ahead swing. Tawa entered the game hitting .187 on the season with 2 home runs and 12 RBI; he nearly matched his season RBI total in a single night.
Arizona had actually spotted Los Angeles a chance early. Gabriel Moreno's first-inning single scored two runs, aided by a throwing error by right fielder Kyle Tucker, to put the Diamondbacks up 2-0. But Shohei Ohtani answered with a solo homer to left center, and Andy Pages followed with a 419-foot shot of his own to tie the game at 2-2. The Diamondbacks then took control in the fourth on Tawa's homer, pushed the lead to 6-2 in the fifth on a Gerardo Perdomo groundout and a Carroll run on a wild pitch by Edgardo Henriquez, and extended further in the sixth when Arenado scored on a Tawa single and Barrosa scored on a Perdomo groundout to make it 8-2.
Eduardo Rodriguez was steady throughout, going six innings and allowing 2 runs on 7 hits with 5 strikeouts and 1 walk on 87 pitches. He picked up his eighth win against three losses, carrying a 2.29 ERA. The Dodgers' bullpen absorbed the damage: six relievers combined to allow 7 runs over 7.1 innings. Will Klein took the loss, falling to 3-4 after allowing 1 run in 1.2 innings. Los Angeles starter Kyle Hurt lasted just 1.2 innings, giving up 2 runs on 3 hits before departing.
