Detroit held a three-run lead through six innings. Then the Astros found their power, and the game changed entirely. Houston scored four runs in the 10th to pull away from a 3-3 tie, handing the Tigers a 7-5 loss on Sunday at Comerica Park.

Detroit struck first in the second inning when Zach McKinstry homered to right center, scoring Carpenter ahead of him for a 2-0 lead. The Tigers added a run in the fifth when McGonigle scored on an error. Houston began its comeback in the seventh, when Raynel Delgado homered to right, scoring Meyers, to cut the deficit to 3-2. Isaac Paredes then tied the game at 3-3 with a solo home run to left in the eighth. In the 10th, Paredes singled to right to score Peña and give Houston its first lead of the night. Christian Walker followed with a three-run homer to left, scoring Alvarez and Paredes and pushing the lead to 7-3. Spencer Torkelson hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the 10th, but the margin was too large to overcome.
Kenley Jansen took the loss, his fourth of the season, allowing 4 runs (3 earned) on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. Josh Hader earned the win, his second of the year, tossing a scoreless 10th with 2 strikeouts despite issuing 3 walks. Hader carries a 0.75 ERA. Hunter Brown started for Houston, allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits over 6.0 innings with 4 strikeouts.
Paredes finished 3-for-5 with a home run and 2 RBI. Walker went 1-for-4 with a home run and 3 RBI, and is now 2 career doubles away from 200. Houston fell to 40-44. Detroit stands at 35-47.
