Webb was the story on the mound. The right-hander worked seven innings, allowing just one hit and two walks while striking out six on 92 pitches. He did not allow a run. It was a 7-inning scoreless start that kept Atlanta's offense — which entered the game at 49-31 — completely silent. Webb picks up his fifth win against five losses, with a 3.19 ERA.
Devers provided everything Webb needed in the second and third innings. In the second, he homered to center, 404 feet, to give SF a 1-0 lead — the game's first and only lead change. Drew Gilbert added to the margin with a sacrifice fly that scored Bryce Eldridge, making it 2-0. Then in the third, Devers connected again, this time to right at 359 feet, with Luis Arraez and Casey Schmitt aboard. All three scored, pushing the lead to 5-0. Devers finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored, four RBI, and two home runs — his 14th and 15th of the season. He now has 43 RBI on the year.
Bryce Elder absorbed the damage for Atlanta. He lasted four innings, allowing five runs on five hits with four strikeouts and a walk on 69 pitches. Elder falls to 5-6 with a 4.01 ERA. Grant Holmes followed with four scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out four, but the deficit was long established by then.
San Francisco snapped a two-game losing streak to improve to 33-48, while Atlanta, entering on a one-game winning streak, fell to 49-31. Webb is six games shy of 200 career appearances.
