The Athletics broke out of their offensive slump with authority, clubbing three home runs to defeat the Yankees 6-4 at Sutter Health Park and snap a four-game losing streak.
J. T. Ginn earned the victory with six innings of one-run ball, allowing four hits while striking out four. The right-hander allowed just one earned run despite three walks, carrying a 2.87 ERA into his next start.
Oakland's power display began in the first inning when Langeliers launched a two-run homer to center field that traveled 426 feet, scoring Kurtz for an early 2-0 lead. Soderstrom added a solo shot in the sixth inning, his blast reaching 403 feet to center. Kurtz capped the home run parade in the seventh with a two-run homer to center that scored Thomas and extended the lead to 5-1.
Ryan Weathers absorbed the loss for New York, allowing five runs over 6.2 innings with 10 strikeouts. The Yankees mounted a late rally in the ninth inning, scoring three times on consecutive walks by Rice, Judge and Bellinger, but Scott Barlow escaped the jam for his second save despite issuing three walks in just one-third of an inning.
Oakland improved to 27-30 while New York fell to 35-22, ending the Yankees' five-game winning streak.
