Houston seized control in the first inning and never looked back, defeating Texas 5-1 behind Spencer Arrighetti's commanding performance on the mound.
Arrighetti (7-1) dominated over six innings, allowing three hits and one run while striking out three. The right-hander carried a 1.34 ERA into his seventh victory of the season, limiting Texas to just four hits total.
The Astros struck immediately in the opening frame. Jeremy Pena homered to left field to lead off the game, then Isaac Paredes followed with a two-run homer that scored Yordan Alvarez for a 3-0 advantage. Jung answered for Texas in the second inning with a solo homer to left center, but Houston extended its lead in the third when Taylor Trammell doubled home Paredes, then Cam Smith singled to center as Trammell scored on a throwing error by center fielder Carter.
Nathan Eovaldi (5-6) absorbed the loss for Texas, allowing five runs over seven innings despite striking out six batters. The veteran right-hander surrendered four hits and walked two in the defeat.
Houston snapped a losing streak to improve to 25-32, while Texas fell to 25-30. Paredes finished 1-for-3 with two RBIs and sits two home runs away from 100 career homers.
