Randy Arozarena went 1-for-2 with three runs scored and two RBIs, capping the decisive inning with a two-run homer to left center. Jhonny Pereda went 1-for-2 with a solo home run earlier in the seventh, his first of the season.

Pereda homered to left to give Seattle a 3-2 lead. Two batters later, Arozarena launched his 396-foot blast after Rodríguez reached base, extending the margin to 5-2.

Sean Newcomb took his first loss of the season, allowing 2 runs over 2 innings in relief for Chicago. Matt Brash earned the win with a scoreless inning, improving to 3-0 with a 0.00 ERA. Jose Ferrer recorded his third save despite allowing Randal Grichuk's solo homer in the ninth.
