The Rangers seized control immediately when Ezequiel Duran doubled to right in the first inning, scoring Andrew McCutchen and Brandon Nimmo to make it 2-0. Texas added three more in the second, highlighted by Nimmo's RBI single and Duran's second RBI hit of the game. Nimmo capped his stellar night with a two-run homer to center in the fourth inning, extending the lead to 7-0.
Tanner Gordon absorbed the punishment for Colorado, allowing 12 hits and 7 runs over 6.1 innings. Sammy Peralta suffered his first loss of the season after surrendering 2 runs in just 0.2 innings of relief. The Rockies managed only 3 hits against Texas pitching.
