Cleveland snapped a three-game losing streak behind Joey Cantillo's controlled pitching performance, defeating Kansas City 3-1 at Kauffman Stadium on Tuesday night.

Cantillo (2-1) allowed one run on three hits over five innings, walking three and striking out one. The left-hander carried a 3.89 ERA into the game and worked around early trouble to earn his second win of the season.

The Guardians erased a 1-0 deficit in the fifth inning when Chase DeLauter singled to left, scoring Austin Hedges and Petey Halpin to put Cleveland ahead 2-1. David Fry added an insurance run in the eighth, grounding out to third to bring home Jose Ramirez.

Kansas City took the early lead in the third when Salvador Perez hit a sacrifice fly to right, scoring Bobby Witt Jr. Luinder Avila (0-2) suffered the loss, allowing two runs over two innings of relief. Cole Ragans started for the Royals and pitched three scoreless innings, allowing one hit while striking out four.

The victory improved Cleveland to 18-19 while Kansas City's five-game winning streak ended as they fell to 17-19. Cade Smith earned his ninth save with a perfect ninth inning, striking out three.
