Nathan Eovaldi controlled the game from the first pitch, and the Texas Rangers offense broke it open early in a 6-1 victory over the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday night.
Eovaldi dominated across eight innings, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out eight without issuing a walk. The veteran right-hander carried a 4.15 ERA into the game and improved to 4-4 on the season with his most complete performance in weeks.
Corey Seager opened the scoring with a solo homer to right field in the first inning, then the Rangers exploded for three runs in the third. Ezequiel Duran doubled home a runner, then Evan Carter followed with a two-run homer to right that extended the lead to 4-0. Texas added two more in the fourth when Duran brought home Jake Burger with a sacrifice fly and Seager singled home another run.
Will Warren struggled through four innings for New York, allowing six runs on seven hits with three walks and seven strikeouts. The Yankees managed just three hits against Texas pitching until Aaron Judge connected for a solo homer to center in the sixth inning, his 15th of the season.
The loss snapped New York's five-game winning streak and dropped them to 25-11, though they remain atop their division. Texas improved to 16-19 and snapped a three-game losing streak with the convincing road victory.
