Peter Lambert controlled the strike zone for seven shutout innings, outdueling Shohei Ohtani in a pitcher's battle that Houston won 2-1 at Daikin Park on Monday night.
Lambert allowed three hits and four walks while striking out four over seven innings to earn his second win of the season. The right-hander carried a 2.42 ERA into the game and held the Dodgers scoreless through seven frames before Bryan King closed out the final two innings for his third save.
The Astros built their lead on solo home runs in consecutive innings. Walker homered to left in the second inning, a 395-foot shot that put Houston ahead 1-0. Shewmake followed with his own homer to left in the third, a 337-foot drive that extended the lead to 2-0. Shewmake finished 2-for-3 with one RBI, while Walker went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Ohtani matched Lambert's effectiveness but absorbed the loss despite a strong performance. The Dodgers managed just one run when Tucker singled to right in the eighth inning, scoring Call to cut the deficit to 2-1.
