Martin (5-1) allowed just five hits and no walks across 85 pitches, dominating from the first inning through the seventh. The right-hander carried a 1.64 ERA into the game and lowered it further with his most complete performance of the season.

Chicago seized control early, scoring twice in the opening frame. Meidroth singled to center to bring home Antonacci, then Benintendi followed with another single to center that scored Murakami. The White Sox extended their lead in the fourth when Murakami launched a two-run homer to center field, a 429-foot blast that scored Antonacci. Vargas added a solo shot to right center moments later, pushing the advantage to 5-0.

Jose Soriano (5-2) absorbed the loss for Los Angeles, surrendering five runs on eight hits over four innings. The Angels managed just five hits against Martin and could never mount a serious threat against the White Sox starter's command.

Chicago improved to 16-18 while Los Angeles fell to 13-22. Both teams snapped losing streaks with the result.
