The Phillies erased a two-run deficit in the ninth inning to defeat the Giants 3-2 Wednesday night at Citizens Bank Park, capping a dramatic comeback that began with Bryson Stott's game-tying triple.
Logan Webb dominated through seven innings for San Francisco, allowing just one run on seven hits while striking out six. The right-hander carried a 4.50 ERA into the contest and held Philadelphia to Kyle Schwarber's first-inning homer until his departure.
The Giants struck early against Cristopher Sanchez, scoring twice in the opening frame. Ramos scored on Arraez's groundout to second, then Chapman crossed the plate on Schmitt's single to left. Schwarber answered immediately with a 406-foot homer to right, cutting the deficit to 2-1.
Ryan Walker entered in the ninth and surrendered the lead. Stott tripled to right to score García and tie the game at 2-2, then Crawford reached on an infield single to shortstop to bring Stott home with the winning run. Walker took the loss, allowing two runs on three hits in two-thirds of an inning.
Philadelphia improved to 10-19 and snapped a losing streak. San Francisco fell to 13-16 with the defeat.
