One swing changed everything. Josh Jung's two-run homer in the sixth inning erased a two-run deficit and lifted Texas to a 4-3 victory over Oakland at Globe Life Field.
Jung delivered the decisive blow with his fourth home run of the season, a 381-foot shot to right center that scored Seager and gave the Rangers their first lead of the game. The third baseman finished 1-for-4 with two RBIs, improving his season totals to four homers and 14 RBIs while batting .299.
The Athletics had controlled the game through five innings, building a 3-0 lead on a string of timely hits. Hernaiz singled Wilson home in the second, then Thomas drove in Langeliers with a single in the third before Wilson added a sacrifice fly to score Kurtz. Texas answered immediately in the bottom of the third, cutting the deficit to 3-2 on Nimmo's sacrifice fly and Seager's RBI single.
Jeffrey Springs carried a 3.79 ERA into the game and pitched effectively through five innings before Jung's homer proved costly. Springs allowed four runs on five hits over six innings, taking the loss to fall to 3-2. MacKenzie Gore struggled with his command for Texas, walking three and allowing six hits over five innings with a 4.35 ERA, but Cole Winn earned the victory with a scoreless sixth inning.
Texas improved to 13-13 after snapping a one-game losing streak. Oakland fell to 14-12 despite outhitting the Rangers 7-5.
