The eighth inning changed everything. Milwaukee entered the frame trailing by just three runs, then sent 12 batters to the plate and scored eight times to turn a competitive game into a 12-4 rout of Detroit at Comerica Park.
Brice Turang drove in four runs on two hits, including a two-run single in the second inning and a sacrifice fly during the decisive eighth. David Hamilton collected four hits and scored twice, while Garrett Mitchell contributed two hits and drove in a run with a triple in the eighth.
The explosion began when Mitchell tripled to score Sánchez, then continued as Rengifo singled home Ortiz. Bauers doubled home Perkins, and Sánchez grounded out to plate Contreras, capping the eight-run outburst that decided the game.
