Heliot Ramos carried San Francisco's offense with three hits in five at-bats, including a home run and two RBIs. The outfielder is batting .243 with two homers and 13 RBIs this season. James Wood matched Ramos' production for the Nationals, going 1-for-3 with three runs scored, a homer and two RBIs while drawing two walks.
Washington seized early control as Wood homered in the first inning, then exploded for four runs in the second. Wood scored on a hit-by-pitch, García Jr. singled home two runs, and Jose Tena capped the rally with an RBI single. The Giants chipped away with Schmitt's double that scored two runs on a fielding error in the third, then Ramos homered in the sixth to tie the game 5-5. Rafael Devers gave San Francisco the lead with a seventh-inning single, but Brady House answered in the ninth with a game-tying single that scored Wood.
Adrian Houser absorbed the damage for San Francisco, allowing five runs over 5.2 innings with a 5.40 ERA. Cionel Perez took the loss for Washington despite two scoreless innings, falling to 1-2 with a 5.91 ERA. Caleb Kilian earned the victory with two shutout innings.
San Francisco extended its winning streak to two games and improved to 8-12. Washington fell to 9-11 after the loss.
