Josh Naylor settled the game before Houston could find its rhythm. His two home runs drove in five runs as Seattle defeated the Astros 6-2 at T-Mobile Park, extending their winning streak to three games.
Naylor went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, carrying a .127 average into the game but delivering when it mattered most. His first home run traveled 365 feet to right center in the first inning, scoring Raleigh and Rodríguez for a 3-0 lead. Two innings later, he launched a 433-foot blast to center, again scoring Raleigh to make it 5-0.
The Astros managed only brief resistance in the fifth inning. Diaz singled to center to score Smith, then Allen grounded into a double play that brought home Trammell. But Seattle answered immediately when Raley singled to right, scoring Rodríguez to restore the four-run margin.
George Kirby earned the victory with 7.2 innings of work, allowing seven hits and two earned runs while striking out six. His ERA stands at 3.25. Mike Burrows took the loss for Houston, surrendering 11 hits and six earned runs over six innings with an ERA of 6.55.
Seattle improved to 7-9 with their third straight victory. Houston fell to 6-10, extending their losing streak to seven games. Kirby is three wins away from 50 career victories.
