Down two runs after one inning, the Phillies found their answer in the third. Two swings changed everything at Citizens Bank Park, turning a 2-0 deficit into a 4-2 lead that would hold up in a 4-3 victory over Arizona.
Kyle Schwarber delivered the decisive blow, a three-run homer to right field that scored Bohm and Crawford and gave Philadelphia its first lead. Harper followed immediately with a solo shot to center, extending the margin to two runs. Schwarber finished 1-for-4 with three RBIs, while Harper went 1-for-3 with a walk.
The Diamondbacks had struck first in the opening frame. Marte homered to right center, a 406-foot blast that put Arizona ahead. Del Castillo followed with an RBI single to center that scored Carroll, making it 2-0 before the Phillies had batted.
Taijuan Walker settled in after the rough start, allowing four hits over five innings with six strikeouts to earn the win and improve to 1-2. Brandon Pfaadt took the loss despite six innings of work, giving up five hits and four runs while striking out six. Arizona managed one more run in the eighth when Fernandez singled to center, scoring Perdomo, but could not complete the comeback.
The victory snapped Philadelphia's three-game losing streak and improved their record to 6-7. Arizona's three-game winning streak ended as they fell to 8-6. Jhoan Duran earned his fifth save and sits five saves away from 100 for his career.
