The Pittsburgh Pirates placed Jared Triolo on the 10-day injured list with a patellar tendon injury in his right knee. Billy Cook was recalled to the majors in a corresponding move.
Triolo had recently moved into the starting third baseman role after being bumped from shortstop in favor of Konnor Griffin, making just one start at third base before the injury.
Triolo batted .227 with 7 home runs and 24 RBI in 107 games during the 2025 season. He posted a .216 average with 9 home runs and 46 RBI in 125 games in 2024. Triolo has struggled early in the 2026 season with a wRC+ of 71 in six games.
Cook, 27, has appeared in 22 career games with 55 plate appearances, batting .236 with a .436 slugging percentage. He has hit .264 with a .440 slugging percentage in 197 games at Triple-A and has stolen 94 bases over the past four seasons.
